Kinderclass, for 3-6 year olds, begins September 1, 2010 and will be held in the morning, afternoon and evening hours. Cathy and Sara will be teaming up for the first time to team teach this combination music and movement class.. Coordination, movement and music combine for a great course for children exploring their interests while learning developmental skills. This course is ideal for anyone exposing their children to a variety of interests while preparing them for music, dance, or sports.
We are currently enrolling for all programs.

Music, Coordination and Movement
Ages 3 - 6. 18-class session begins the first week of September Session runs through January 19 or 21 for Wed or Fri classes respectively.
Class Times: Wednesday 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Tuition: $280 for 18-week session.
Kids will enjoy learning the foundation of music, dance and coordination in a small class with personal attention.

Piano taught by Cathy Gilchrist, & Nada Martinovic
Schedule: Select times are available for immediate start. A waiting list is maintained first come first serve for the rest. Most lessons are 30-minutes once a week. Four-year olds who are ready to begin may take two 20-minute lessons a week and adults may choose to take longer lessons.
Tuition: $85 per month pre-paid monthly (as of Sept. 2010)
We currently have room to add another piano teacher. Please contact sara_independentstudios.net if you have experience and a degree.
Drumming Lessons

Schedule: Mondays Most lessons are 30-minutes once a week.
Tuition: $25 per half hour lesson pre-paid monthly

Highland is a cultural form of dance rich in Scottish history.
Highland dance is solo, competitive and gracefully athletic. Anyone is welcome to observe a Highland class before enrolling. Beginner classes are held on Monday nights from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and 6:30-7:30 p.m. Ask about our PTA or Girl Scout troop dance classes. Highland dancers are available to perform at your local event. Contact the studio for booking.

About Independent Studios, LLC
In 2005, my mother Cathy and I set out to create a space where I could teach Highland dance and she could house her established piano business. We wanted a comfortable convenient studio where families felt welcome, instructors were encouraged and students could grow.

The Owners
Sara Gilchrist, Directing Partner
Sara has been teaching highland dance since 1998. Her vision for the studio was born while earning her business degree at The Ohio State University. Her original plan focused on a multi-discipline school of ethnic dance but this was expanded to incorporate Cathy's desires for a music program.
Sara has taught herself to design logos, business cards, stationary, print pieces and Web sites. Teaching other entrepreneurs to access the resources around them and execute marketing on a budget has become as much a passion as Highland Dance.
Cathy Gilchrist, Administrative Partner
Cathy has been a local piano instructor since 1980. In 2005, she moved her home-based piano business into the studio. She holds a Bachelors of Music Education degree from The Ohio State University.
The Studio
A quaint brick building on Dover Center Road (across from Malley's) proved to be the ideal location for Sara and Cathy's Independent Studios.
In designing the interior spaces for the studio, the mother-daughter team strived to infuse a home-like atmosphere while keeping function top of mind.
The Studio's doors are always open to those who would like to stop by and ask questions, view the studio and learn more about the available programs.
